I honestly never thought to question maps and how they showed the world. I did think that Greenland was this massive piece of land, covered in ice and almost larger than most of Canada. Which is strange to think about now, because I knew Canada was the second largest country (I think? According to a song.) and yet…Greenland looks bigger.
I have a Sociocultural Anthropology course right now and one class we looked at maps, and what our projection of the world tells us about us.
I’m also pretty sure I’m going to make my kids learn geography from a globe.
Am I the only one that’s a bit baffled by this comparison?
